Susan had to say...

I have recently retired after working 25 years as a clinical audiologist at a major medical center.  I have been an inveterate reader since childhood, but now have time to really read.  The charges at the bookstores were skyrocketing until I found PBS.  I still buy some books, so, many of my posted books are new.

I like different kinds of literature and enjoy mysteries.  Some favorite authors are Laura Lippman (hometown girl), T. Jefferson Parker, Brad Meltzer, Tasha Alexander, Linda Scottoline, Harlen Coben, Linda Fairstein, Selma Eichler, Peri O'Shaughnessy, Karin Slaughter, Kate Wilhelm, Bob Morris, J.A. Konrath's Jack Daniels series, Sujata Massey, G.A. McKevitt, Rett MacPherson, and many more.  I find that I am moving away from the "lightweight" cozy series, finding it somewhat contrived for a person to find a new body every week.

I love armchair traveling with stories set in interesting places.  My very favorite is Donna Leon whose stories revolve around a detective in Venice, Italy.  Since I have been reading different topics on the Discussion Forum, I have some new favorites, Barbara Nadel, who writes about Inspector Ikmen in Istanbul Turkey, Iain Pears' art history mysteries which are usually set in Rome, and Margaret Maron's Sigrid Harald series set in NYC.

I have also enjoyed corresponding with other readers on PBS and finding "kindred spirits" on different lists.
